Strategy Markup Language (StratML)

Posted on March 18, 2014April 19, 2023 by Perspective Mapper

I’ve been working with Russell Ruggiero on a few different projects tied to Strategy Markup Language (StratML). For those of you not familiar, StratML is an initiative headed by Owen Ambur, through the US Government, to represent organizational strategy information in an open, evolving, machine-readable XML based format.

What does this facilitate? SImply put, clearer, more transparent communication between individuals and organization on “intentions, stakeholders, and results”.

It is very much an effort with a noble ideal — right now, much of the communication on the Web still doesn’t facilitate explicit information transfer. So much information about a person or organization has to be gleaned indirectly, rather than processed directly.

It has been an uphill struggle over the years, and will likely continue so over the next several years. However, the motives and intentions of the project are very much in line with what’s needed to bring us forward as a world..and in line with the principles of Perspective Mapper of ensuring clear, explicit communication between parties in dialog.
