Guarding Ourselves from Worldly Validation

Posted on May 10, 2022April 5, 2023 by Perspective Mapper

There are many ways the world validates our value.

These include ranks, grades, scores during our education, dollars, awards, titles in our career, and likes, comments, and forwards on social media. And of course, this includes compliments, praise, prizes, rewards of various kinds, and sentiments including warmth, kindness, and inclusion.

On the surface, we might assume these different validators are all-around good — that they promote good behavior and a good society. But if we look deeper (as we do here at Perspective Mapper 🙂 ), we find that the world validates only what it can see. People validate that what they think they want or believe is good. And it stops there.

We as humans don’t (or literally can’t) validate what is beyond our ability to perceive.

Sharing appreciation for each other can be beautiful. However, the moment worldly achievements validate our worth is when we become beholden to the limitations of others and the world. And thereby lose touch with the deeper Voice within us.

While it might feel nice or feel good to be validated by the world, it equally can serve to distract us and obfuscate our connection with Spirit.

There is suffering built into world validation. When a worldly authority defines our highest value, we will be disempowered. I believe that external validations can be appreciated, but the moment we take them seriously is when we lose touch with our Soul.
